Set Point Tennis Academy has been based in Thames Ditton for the past 22 years where it has provided coaching of the highest quality to both the local community and to international players of 7 different nationalities.

Our aim has been to encourage players, both juniors and adults, to achieve their full potential by offering innovative coaching services and consultancy at competitive prices.

Both Cathy and Gordon Birt, the founders of the Academy, have played and coached at the highest international level, thereby offering expertise seldom found in Great Britain.

S.P.T.A are proud and privileged to announce a new addition of 2 former international players to our coaching team.

Jasmine Ferguson (nee Choudhury) and Tom Dixon have both played internationally on the world professional circuit and hence provide further valuable experience to our team of coaches.

This means that all 4 of our coaches are former international players, something other academies are seldom able to match. As so often happens in most academies, very few of their coaches have ever reached anything like international standard as players themselves…..a factor so important as they generally have very little idea of the path their pupils need to follow should they wish to play professionally.

Jasmine played internationally on the W.T.A. tour achieving her highest ranking in singles of 331 in 1998.

18 - 28 July 2019

Accompanied by Tom Dixon, our best junior players, Oliver Skirrow and the Dunn sisters, Rebecca and Emily, travelled to Tennis Club Steinbach, just outside Frankfurt where they trained on the European clay courts and play league matches for the club. They also be played in 2 regional tournaments during their trip where they reached the latter rounds.  Special thanks to Laurence for organising this wonderful opportunity for our players.

28 July - 04 August 2019:   Annual Triangular Camp & Trophy in Newquay

We so enjoyed seeing our German friends from Club Steinbach (just outside Frankfurt) again this year.   The Triangular event between Club Steinbach, the Ace Tennis Academy in Newquay and our own academy  took place for the 12th successive year from  28 July - 04 of August in Newquay, Cornwall and, as usual, was a fantastic success!  Integrating with players from other environments, the week of drills, running on the beach, practice matches, pizza and pasta party, beach tennis, football, surfing, pasties in town, fastest serve challenge, Pro-Am and the Annual Triangular Trophy is an exceptional opportunity for our players!  Special thanks to Steve Askey for, yet again, organising the event. Also, special thanks to the families hosting our children free of charge.
